What we do.

Posted: 25th Sep 2009

Most of our business is now providing CMS powered websites to new businesses and web agencies. Because of our experience and work-flow we are able to offer very competitive fixed fees for our service.

For example, did you know that we can provide a CMS powered website, with template build and support for under £500 ($750)?

We recently launched a new face to Haloweb which does exactly what it says on the tin. CMS PHP provides the design, template build and support for a low, fixed price. And what's more we support many CMS (e.g. Wordpress, Drupal, Halogy).

So if you want us to help you out in this area, email us!

Our Ethos (Web Development Process)

Posted: 31st Aug 2009

I thought I would just share a bit about how we think the web development process should work - from when a client submits a brief to the site being handed over (and beyond). We are calling this the Halogy Ethos because it forms the basis of why we built Halogy.

Headlines Module for Halogy

Posted: 28th Aug 2009

blog-headlines

We have recently been working for a client called the Philo Trust building their new site in Halogy. In their brief they requested site-wide feeds from modules such as Shop and Events. In other words they wanted to be able to have a sidebar which always showed what was in their cart, what events are upcoming and what blog posts are recent.

Halogy Donations Module

blog-donations

We have just been working on a donations module for Halogy where shoppers are asked whether they want to add a donation to their shopping cart. Upon doing so the donation is simply added to the checkout.

Also the module enables websites to have a donations page where they can make a donation separately and use Gift Aid (so the organisation can benefit from claiming back the tax). So this could be a really useful feature for charities and organisations needing donations.

So you might need a load of documentation written, or you might want to write about a recent project that involved lots of people. Well with a Wiki - everyone can be involved with the writing and this saves you a lot of time!

The beta program enables people to test the CMS out with their website and benefit from being a part of this exciting new web app. We'll launch the public beta over the summer.

Thanks to all those who have shown interest already.

Dare to be different!

Posted: 6th May 2009

blog-halogy-logo

We recently released the logo for our flagship product Halogy and received mixed responses. Many said it was very cool and exciting, others didn't like it that much because it was too different and unconventional.

We love to be different and unconventional! A recent quote from a brand designer I know when quized about whether one should use the same typeface as the logo in the rest of the brand:

No. i would never do a typeface that matched the logo that's a recipe for mediocrity.
Having signage, stationary and websites in the same font as your logo is just brand-dilution.

We like to think that with Halogy we have broken the trend to follow mainstream thinking which can lead to mediocrity. We are very proud of our work and what's wrong with being a bit different. One thing is for sure and that is that it's sparking a lot of conversation :-).

Branding - what's it all about?

Posted: 1st Mar 2009

We have begun work on branding the Halogy product (this is the service that provides everything you need for a website). But what is branding all about?

You have read all about how the Halogy product works I'm sure, but branding it in order to sell it is a whole new world. We want it to look great, but we want the unique selling points to shine through - the fact it is easy to use, the fact it pretty much covers everything most people would need from an off-the-shelf website solution, the fact that it is 100% British!.

Over the next few weeks we will keep you updated on the branding process and explain how this kind of thing works, and how it could work for your business.

Halogy - the "website in a box" solution

Posted: 1st Mar 2009

A lot of people have similar requirements for their websites. They need a nicely designed template, a CMS (Content Management System) so they can update their pages, a Shop and perhaps cool stuff like a blog or a group email deployment system.

Normally they would hire a web company in to build this site bespoke, tailored to their needs and the costs would be a fortune. But today us web developers rarely re-invent the wheel each time this scenario comes up. We can use systems that do all of the above and where all of the hard work has been done already. We have our own system and it's called Halogy.
