I just downloaded Adium for Mac OS X and it's a way of chatting to users of multiple Instant Messaging networks for example MSN, Google Chat etc. But I've found that through installing "Growl" I get notifications pop up in the bottom right of the screen for all sorts of other applications I have installed, not just new chat conversations but also things like file transfers. It's great! I love Growl.
