Ok so everyone is blogging these days. From Joe Bloggs on the street through to massive companies like Facebook and Google. But why, and what is a Blog? Does your business really need one?

Yes, it probably does.

Blogging isn't just about writing what you bought at the super-market today or how many DVDs you managed to watch last night before falling asleep at 4am. It can be a really powerful tool for your business and your clients.

For example let's say you run a clothing company which has just started designing it's own range of new clothing. You already have a CMS and Shop (powered by Halogy of course) and you are selling your old stock nicely. But let's say you want to tell your customers about this new range, and you don't just want to give them a thumbnail and a price - you want to explain the whole process behind the design.

This is where your blog can come in handy. You can get real with your clients and tell them all about the thinking behind your product design. Why did you choose certain colours, or why did you decide to write this new book? People love reading about that kind of thing, and someone who is excited about your product will buy it, and tell others.

You may also want to keep your clients updated on the business and how you are doing. With more information about your business you can build a deeper trust between you and your clients, establishing brand loyalty. For these reasons alone you should have a blog.

Also a blog will help your SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) with search engines like Google. As always 'Content is King' and the better your content and the more of it, the better your search engine ranking will be. Obviously you want to keep the content in your blog relevant to your website, or you may get a negative ranking (which you really don't want).

So, get a blog! If you want one contact us and we will set you up with either a 3rd party system like Wordpress or our own Halogy Blog system.

Now, about that shopping trip I made earlier...
