We have finished building some amazing new features to Halogy. We are so excited about them and we are itching to create new screencasts to show the features in action. Halogy has grown ten fold over the last couple of months and not only that but the branding is coming along nicely (more to come on that later).

The features include a new permissions system, an events system and enhancements to the templating part of the CMS.

Permission Granted

The biggest and best feature is the permissions system which we have been working on over the last couple of weeks. The way it works is administrators can now assign different permissions to users of their site. For example you have just set up an account with Halogy and you want to be able to give your staff access to the Shop, but ONLY to be able to add products and edit them, not delete them. Or you may want to grant staff members access to just a few pages on your site. Whatever permissions you decide to give to your users you can do it now with the new permissions system.

  • Log in as administrator
  • Hover over Users and select Permission Groups
  • Add new permission group
  • Select the permissions you want users to have (e.g. tick Add / edit pages)
  • Hit Save
  • Go to Users
  • Add or edit a user
  • Under Permissions select the new group that you just created and hit Save.

UPDATE: You can watch a video of the permissions system here

That user will then only be able to do what you let them do.

We will explain more on the technical side for you CodeIgniter fans later

Also new...

We have updated a lot of the code in Halogy making things faster and easier to find. We have built an events system which is coming soon, plus we have made some other great features to the templating system for customisation of Blog and Shop pages.

It's all happening! Get involved and let us host your website on Halogy. Email us for quotation - enquiries@haloweb.co.uk
